I am looking forward to engaging in some wholesome & edifying discussions on this web site. Forgive if Iam wrong.Idid not know C.O.G.7Day Sent out greetings for the new Roman year. I Thought we recognised the new year acording to the bible.

      • Re: New Year:  Bertie - 1/5/2008 11:48:34 AM
Greetings, I do hope that this year we can edify each other in the word. And I think we should take the time to undo any false teachings that others may have caused some to waiver. If anyone has questions that, you know who, has cause and would like explanations I'd personally like to help. Although this is not the religious new year it is a new year in some aspect Roman, etc. This is not a sin just simply a recognition of the fact--My callendar changed from 2007 to 2008. Let's not make a big deal out of nothing. God bless.

  • Blind leading the Blind.:   Kelsocda - 8/24/2007 10:57:30 PM
The following was written by a Sunday school teacher, I want to quote a portions of what is said. "I really don’t want to go through all the references for yowm or yom, buy I think one more will make the point. The very next reference for yowm appears in Genesis chapter 2 verse 17, “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” - - - Did Adam and Eve die the same day they eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil? No! In fact, Adam lived to be about 930 years old. - this word simply isn’t being used in the creation account as “day”, it means “period of time” Knowing that a Day in Adoni time is equal to 1000 years you think that these students will be able to figure out creation? If the old T can't be understood how on earth will these students ever figure out the New. You can view this at freejesus.net author eprom Posted 12-6-04

  • Saving for children:   Coach - 1/19/2008 4:06:27 PM
I have heard many people talk about not being able to aford children because of day care and other costs of raising them. These people say this while they waste there money on cable tv, vacations, expensive homes, cars, clothing and worldly possesions that are all corruptable. Again, I am urging us to discuss this subject through scripture and not worldly logic if indeed scripture has something to say on this subject which it does and I have quoted in an earlier writing. Scripture says to give no thought for the morrow and what it will bring since God even takes care of the sparrows. And yet, we are so worried about money, we decide to reject a blessing from God and "wait" for children. My brothers and sisters this ought not to be. To answer your question directly, No, we should not "plan our famililies." I will let the world plan their families and I will let God plan mine. May God bless you all this Sabbath.

    • Re: Saving for children:  Danny - 1/20/2008 5:03:38 AM
Greetings from Nairobi, Kenya. Please remember us in prayers during this political turmoil in our country. My take on this topic, i am convinced that God has granted us the wisdom to guide us during such times. I believe the context for scriptures today relating to children and 'filling the earth' is not exactly the same as during those ancient days. That makes the application to our lives quite different basically due to the times we are living in. Today we have to use the wisdom God has given to plan our families even as believe that God is the provider of all our needs, in the same way we would seek medical attention when we are sick yet believing that God is the healer. Faith without works is dead, my understanding of that is we have to take conscious steps towards achieving what we believe. We must plan our families to be able to serve the Lord well within the constraints of the times/environment we are living in. God bless you all.

      • Re: Saving for children:  Coach - 1/25/2008 11:56:51 PM
Greetings Brother Danny, you will be in my prayers. Why did God tell us to "fill the earth", so that all the space would be filled? Or, because He is pleased when his creation is obedient and serve him. The purpose in "filling the earth", is to fill it with people that will serve and praise Him, and so, the purpase is still the same and unchanged. What about the scriptures that tells us children are an inhereitance, an heritage from the Lord and Blessed is the man with a quiver full, have these been changed also? I do not think so. I believe brother you are using logic to answer the question, and while God has granted us wisdom to help us, this wisdom should never contradict scripture. I have done many things in my life, but only a few that will hold any eternal significance. Most of the fun I have had on this earth, is vanity, but my children and the time I have been with them are precious and joyous. I shudder at the idea of not having even one of my children.

  • 3 and 3:   Coach - 5/2/2008 10:57:45 PM
Bertie, after much prayer and study, I have found that the angel came as Sabbath was ending and Jesus raised then. The women then arrived very early Sunday morning before the sun rose and found it empty. I believe this was your belief also, and I while I do not quite agree with all your reasoning, as I studied, it did become obvious that the visit was Sunday morning. I then was interested in why our church did not believe what to me was so obvious, so I got our booklet on the subject and read, and it states also a Sunday morning visit, so I guess I just missed that teaching when it was being taught to me as a youngster, because this is a very old booklet, at least 30 or more years old. I also thank you and praise God for opening my mind to the truth on this subject.

    • Re: 3 and 3:  Cornel - 5/3/2008 2:32:00 PM
Greetings again Coach. Please provide some scriptual evidence to show that the angel came as sabbath was ending. This 3d & 3n subject is one that interests me a lot so i will always join in such discussion. Thanks.

      • Re: 3 and 3:  Coach - 5/3/2008 5:58:22 PM
I will try to be brief: John 20:1 the ladies came first of the week while still dark. Luke 24:1 the first day very early in the morning the women brought spices. Mark 16:1-2 the women came after the sabbath very early in the morning on the first day of the week. Well, all three of these verses make it clear. The problem seems to arise when we look at Matthew, but not if we first define the word morning. It is the greek word meaning as it begins to become light. So, in each one of these verses we find that the women are coming to the grave on Sunday when the light is begining to shine. Now, to Matthew...it says after the Sabbath as it began to dawn to the first day of the week. That word dawn is similar the morning and refers to the coming of light. If it was Sabbath evening that the women came the Sabbath would have ended, but the light is not begining, but Sunday morning is when both the Sabbath is over and the sun is starting to show light.Part 1/2

        • Re: 3 and 3:  Coach - 5/3/2008 6:13:40 PM
Before the women arrived the angel had come and rolled the stone away and made the soldiers to be as dead men. When did this happen? Well, the soldiers were only there for the first three days and nights because they were trying to keep Jesus prophecy of resurection from happening Matt.27:63. I believe angel came Sabbath evening and the women came the moring following. I question if they would have been allowed into the tomb earlier than Sunday moring because it had been sealed. It was to be sealed to prove it was not opened, it is doubtful it would have resealed everytime someone wanted to visit before 3 days were past. Also, we know Christ was placed in the tomb in the evening, therefore to achieve 3 days and 3 nights he would have to resurrect in the evening.Part 2/2

    • Be Brave, represent YAH's word not doctrinal books:  Bertie - 5/3/2008 12:16:54 PM
Hello Coach, Greetings to you brother. I am happy to hear of your searching and by much prayer. Yahowah bless you and cause his face to shine on you as you study. Brothers and sisters it doesn't matter if you agree with me or not--that is not my joy as of right now, my joy is to know that you all are studying and not just reading. True understanding and revelation of the scriptures (Gen-Mal) also of the testimonies and letters (Matt- Revalations) can only happen when we have the right attitude of approach (heart). That being said, we must always remember to think outside the box of denomination and church group affiliation, but to affiliate our selves only with Yah's word otherwise our spiritual/mental eyes will be limited from the truth in Yah's word. Then, we can go back to ones' doctrine to see if that doctrine fits the word, (and not limitting the word to fit one's doctrine, brother). Yah's word stand and everyone and things else falls. Bravely keep this approach. w/love

  • Non baptised.:   Bunny - 2/3/2008 2:27:40 PM
Can non baptised members take an active part in COG7th.

    • Re: Non baptised.:  shelley - 2/7/2008 8:33:10 PM
i would like an aswer to my Question.i know that we unbaptised people can't do any thing in the church, but how can we do nothing when we are there?what would you'll what us to do?give us a chance. so that we may not leave the true faith.thank you .

      • Re: Non baptised.:  Coach - 2/8/2008 9:28:54 AM
Please do not get upset Shelley, you can do wonderful things in church, such as sing, praise, pray, maybe the church lacks someone to come and clean during the week. These are all wonderful and praise worthy, do not think they are too small or beneath you. I am baptized and still perform any and all of those items when they are needed in our local congregation. But, to have any sort of leadership role in church should be left to the baptized. Sometimes we feel that we want to do "big" jobs in church, (this can be pride), when God need the "little" ones done too. When a person is baptized that are proclaiming devotion to God. If a person does not have this conviction, then why would God desire them to lead anything in His house?

    • Re: Non baptised.:  Micky  - 2/5/2008 4:33:14 AM
Why ask this question? Have you not read or by statements implied on this board, “Except ye be a COG7thday or keep EVERY LAW you shall not enter the Kingdom”! So baptise now!

      • Re: Non baptised.:  Bunny - 2/5/2008 7:18:01 PM
I was asking the question as a new comer to the church...this is a subject that I have heard talked about...they say invite people into the church so they feel welcome, are you going to alienate because they are not yet baptised.....

    • Re: Non baptised.:  Bugs - 2/4/2008 7:06:01 PM
      Ask your pastor.

      • Re: Non baptised.:  Bunny - 2/5/2008 7:30:40 PM
Your answer to the question is very simplistic...but does not help, I have been going to church for the past 4 months, even those I'm not look at as a visitor anymore, I would like to play a greater part in the church...I'm still a baby learning everyday, so as a person not yet baptised....can I be more active in the church?

        • Re: Non baptised.:  Ellis - 2/5/2008 9:52:42 PM
Hi Bunny, please don't be discouraged by the responses of Bugs and Micky's postings. You have asked a very good question, and I am overjoyed to hear that you want to play a greater part in the church. I must first say that it depends on the church you attend. Many churches allow leniency in terms of the type of duties "non-members" can perform. I'm not sure what kind of responsibilities you're referring to; maybe you can elaborate further in another posting. I must say though, when it comes to the service of God, it is not any and everybody that can have a part in it. Whether it's leading the service, preaching, playing an instrument, etc, the person performing these duties must be in good standing with God and the church. Please reference Acts 6:1-7, also Ex. 18:17-26. As with any organization, there must be certain qualifications that are met before any person can perform duties in that particular place. May God bless you in your desire to serve him...

Well, Well, well. When the Cats are away the Mice will play. I really really miss Prince Bowers. He is one of the few who has been able to present a balance arguement. Whats happening now is NOT healthy for the site. The debate is one sided. We miss you man, Where are you>? Come back!

I second this. Prince where are you? We need some real thinking here.

          • Re: Non baptised.:  Coach - 2/6/2008 9:55:58 AM
I agree with Ellis, and also advise not to be discouraged by the harsh comments of Bugs and Micky. Scripture speaks of not giving a novice position in the church lest they be puffed up. While your intentions are wonderful, you should grow in walk with the Lord first and then be baptized and after that seek position. Use this time to gain the characteristics you will need for a lifetime in service to our Lord

            • Re: Non baptised.:  Bertie - 2/6/2008 11:31:54 PM
Greetings in the name of the most honourable, Yah-shua. I most first agree with Bugs and Ellis, that you should ask your pastor--also Coach is right. Also, I would like to give just a little light on the subject of baptism as according to the Holy Ghost. I will not give scripture here but feel free to ask and i will post next time. Search the Holy Scriptures (Old Testament or TaNaK): in order for any human being to be part of the services of God or to partake of any ordained thing of God they (male) had to be circumcised. Circumcision was/is necessary to be part of the family of Yah. Spiritually speaking by the Holy Ghost, baptism is a circumcision (puting away of the flesh) to walk and be joined unto the body and family of Yah, then being able to partake of his ordainances (also see Timothy's story). I hope this at least points you and everyone else in the direction to spiritual understanding. I can talk more of this if you like, but my answer is as theirs--NO! w/love

              • Re: Non baptised.:  Bunny  - 2/7/2008 6:28:59 PM
May I thank you all for your words of encouragement and enlightenment..Coach I found what you said to be lifting, as I said before I'm still a baby drinking milk...may be I'm running before I can walk. This leads me to another question..we are walking in the light, then why do church members criticise each other...are we not one family...

                • Re: Non baptised.:  Coach - 2/8/2008 9:40:07 AM
GOD BE PRAISED!!!! When someone asks a question like you asked Bunny, I believe satan really works hard to discourage you when you receive the answer. What a glorious victory for the the Almighty!! Now to comment on your second question. We must be careful when we want to label a comment as "criticising." Sometimes we discuss things in a way that seems to criticise, but it is actually meant in love and it is only our passion for the Lord that makes it appear otherwise. We are one family, and if someone does intentionally criticise for selfish reasons, then the elders should confront and deal with the member in love, in order to restore such a one and gain victory over satan.

  • Doctrine needs reform:   prince Bowers - 11/9/2006 4:06:49 PM
Thanks be to God. As i was reading the message board I have just noticed that some people are seeing exactly where i am comming from oh bless the Lord. (1) Someone made a very good point regarding Clean and unClean meats. Anything is good to eat as long as it is received with thanks. ALSO (2) Where is the Biblical proof that we have to take Lord super once a year? This has nothing to do with passover. Thats my point we are under the Gospel not the Law. The Gospel has taken precedence over the written Law. I am not saying that i have to go out and get a big piece of Pork now. But i cannot condem any one eating foods we consider unclean. Or people taking the super as often.

    • Re: Doctrine needs reform:  Bertie - 11/10/2006 10:33:42 PM
Greetings, in the name of the Most High, Jesus of Nazareth. Brethren, be not deceived by the spirit which Mr. Bowers speak with. It is evident that you speak with anger and frustration, none of which edifies. Secondly, it is evident that you are unlearned and the things you say is what you heard and perhaps read, but do not understand. I do not want to seem insulting, so I proclaim that I speak with love. You have addressed many things that bring me great concern to the idiosyncrasies that are shared out there. Many people think and believe like you, I too have my own beliefs, but you must first be humble in order to have effectual intercourse in the name of Jesus. Going to heaven, the Laws, unclean meats, seem to be the issue you challenge. I say this to you, boldly and by the understanding of scripture, where by line upon line and precept upon precept is applied, you are misled. First, humble yourselves, and then I will speak. God bless; w/love.

Dear Pastor Bertie, From your above reply i can see that you are not willing to consider me a CHURCH OF GOD any more because i persecute the Church. From Bro Bowers To MR Bowers. And i am the one who is unlearnt. Well i will let you in on something. The Lord works in mysterious ways. The same Computer system you once said was the Beast . I will use this same tool to help you let my people go. You are trying to deviate from all the issues that i have raised and attack me personally. What a Sad day. You dont even know me. And if you do, I pray that God will forgive you for you know not what you say. I am just so tiried of a message that bring forth no fruit just self praise and gratification. continue:

continue: I can see that you are warning every one about me. Who knows, i might soon be bared from this site. But as i have the breath of life thank be to God, i will walk through your insults with my head up high and continue to show that salvation is a free gift through the power of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. Not by your vain works and glory. I was born and raised a Church of God and no one understands better than me the damage you have created over the years with such belief. Yes you are right i am angry. But i sin not. Christ said he came to put a sword. and i have no choice but to speak the truth without fear.

To Prince Bowers: First of all, I REFUSE to answer any of your questions. See 2 Tim 2:23. I've been trying to follow the DOZENS of posts you've made on this message board. It's hard to even understand your point of view and your stance on certain issues. It seems that you would like to convince (or confuse) others on your OPINION of the Scriptures. The doctrine does NOT need reform when it is the written Word of God. One must reform himself to the doctrine instead. You don't have to try to convict us with your own beliefs, and you don't have to agree with the doctrine of the Church of God. I understand that you believe strongly in your views, but please don't try to misinform others that want to learn truth. It seems that you ask a question only to argue with the person that responds. As children of God, we should always be willing to learn while showing humility. God Bless...

      • Re: Doctrine needs reform:  prince Bowers - 11/11/2006 4:41:46 PM
Bro or Pastor Ellis what are you afraid of? I am misinforming others? I do not have to waste my time to do so. They are already seeing it for themselves. Because the light is clear. This is not personal. I love the Church dearly but every sabbath that i go to service i can see that we keep missing the point. You do not have to try and be suttle with me. I know how you think. Its time to set my people free. The truth shall set you free. I can do nothing on my own. I thank God that you have all understanding and humility and i am the idiot. But remember God uses the foolish things of the world to conform the wise. Let the people decide for themself do not try to persude their evaluations. Bless the Lord.

  • Birthday Parties on Sabbath:   Coach - 4/26/2008 6:02:03 PM
My family and I recently got an invitation to celebrate the birthday of one of the church kids in a couple weeks on the Sabbath. I grew up with the understanding this was doing our own pleasure and was never allowed to go. I have to questions: 1. This happens regularly in our church and I wonderred if it was that way in other Cog7 churches, and, 2. What is everyones opinion? Am I being too strict?

    • Re: Birthday Parties on Sabbath:  Soldier of Truth - 4/27/2008 3:47:23 PM
hi coach the focus on Sabbath should be on our creator and not on ourselfs, it is a holy day that we give Honor to God, and not one that we celebrate another human being. I simple would say give thanks to God that you have seen another year wheather it is just come to Church and give him the prise and Worship that is His or give a Testimony of how the Lord has kept you for the past year and let God be praised and not the individual for on that day "Sabbath" ALL GLORY BELONGS TO GOD. Saturday night if you please you can invite your friends to give thanks with you in a more social way. I no some will birthsday are pagan and some of the things done at "birthday partys" may be. Yet I believe in Given thanks to God at Mile Stones but remember to Give thanks for the life you have daily while you may have a party to celebrate you BIRTHDATE OR YEARLY MILES STONE DO SO AS A CHILD OF GOD. So coach if the sun is not yet set on Sabbath you should not go to the party and that goes for Wedding also

PEOPLE THAT ARE TRYING LIKE ME JUST KEEP YOUR HEAD ABOVE THE WATER........... I want to ask the leaders is probation for one set?Leaders becarefull that the people blood dont stay on your shoulders...............Be fear pass judgment on who you must without choice and chance..........thoes that trying push them to try even harder thoes that careless deal with them in the right way...you all know the scripture.....God bless to all

    • Re: Leaders what happen to some of them?(in COG):  Coach - 4/25/2008 9:45:35 AM
I do not believe such angry ramblings accomplish much. If you are doing what is right, then praise God, because if you are persecuted for righteousness you will have an even greater inheritance. But, if you are not doing what is right, then beware, you good works do not cancel out your bad. Change your behavior if it is not right and do not point at others, because we can always find someone who is worse than ourselves. Be careful in bringing such accusations to God's anointed.
